The Optic Fiber Systems company produces optic fiber for communication cables used by telecommunication companies for data transfer. The plant located in Saransk, the capital of Mordovia, was commissioned in 2015. In quarter 4, 2016, the Company started commercial production of optic fiber. In March 2018, the total output amounted 2,000 km of fiber.
Production capacity of the plant are 2.4 mln km of fiber per year. The products meet 25% of the Russian optic fiber market demand.
In December 2016, Optic Fiber Systems jointly with Rostelecom PJSC and VNIIKP OJSC (All-Russian Research and Development Institute for Cable Industry) completed a programme of testing own-produced Russian optic fiber, as well as optic fiber cable produced using it. The test demonstrated positive results, and the Company's products have been recommended to use in Rostelecom PJSC communication networks.
Optic Fiber Systems have already obtained a compliance certificate for commercial optic fiber according to the key international standards MSE-Т G652D and IEC 60793–2–50, and the quality management system has been certified in compliance with GOST R ISO 9001–2015 (ISO 9001:2015) guaranteeing quality compliance of domestic optic fiber with international and Russian standards.
Up to 90% of the products are exported. Today the Company supplies its products to Russia, Belarus, China, Austria, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Poland.

Technologies and Products
The project will produce photonic crystal fiber and introduce technology for applying protective nanocoatings of amorphous carbon to standard optical fiber. The new coating improves the fiber’s mechanical properties, the extent to which it can be bent, and its service life. These are particularly advantageous features for optical fiber used in local and in-vehicle networks. The hydrogen resistance provides greater stability for fiber use underwater and also at chemical and oil and gas facilities.
Photonic crystal fiber is used in the newest fiber lasers and amplifiers, fiber endoscopes and sensors, and laser scalpels in the medical, semiconductor, and telecommunications industries.
