FGS UES LLC Uses Profotech’s Equipment to Digitize Power Generation Industry
Optoelectronic current and voltage transformers, manufactured by RUSNANO’s Portfolio Company Profotech, JSC and based on its proprietary photonics technology, were used to construct facilities designed to supply electricity to the largest petrochemical facility complex, SIBUR’s ZapSibNeftekhim, under construction.
The inauguration ceremony to open the facilities to supply electricity to the largest petrochemical facility complex, ZapSibNeftekhim, under construction was held in the Tyumen region. The complex is designed for deep hydrocarbons processing. The FGS UES 500 kW substation, Tobol, a key part of these facilities costing 5.3 billion rubles, is the first ultrahigh voltage power plant in Russia using integrated digital technologies.
It is truly noteworthy that the 500 kW digital substation, Tobol, employs made-in-Russia innovative technologies, thus increasing work effectiveness and reliability, which makes it an important undertaking in the push towards digital economy. Notably, the optoelectronic current and voltage transformers, manufactured by RUSNANO’s Portfolio Company Profotech, JSC and based on its proprietary photonics technology, were used to implement a project in this voltage category for the first time.
As Andrey Murov, Chairman of the Management Board at FGS UES, stated, “the 500 kW FGS UES substation, Tobol, is the first pilot project employing integrated digital technologies at ultrahigh-voltage power plants. It’s symbolic that the largest petrochemical facility complex, ZapSibNeftekhim, was the first recipient of the latest electricity grid infrastructure of its kind. By 2025 we’re planning to add 32 more digital substations to the Unified National Electricity Grid in Russia (UNEG).”
Dmitry Konov, Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC SIBUR Holding, likewise noted: “Tobol 500 is a crucial link in ZapSibNeftekhim’s electricity grid. SIBUR’s 500 kW substation ZapSib will transform electricity received from Tobol to a lower voltage required for the complex. These are indeed state-of-the-art technological solutions according to not only national but also international standards. Supplying electricity to ZapSibNeftekhim is the first step in ensuring its readiness for installation and testing, scheduled first during project implementation.”
Oleg Rudakov, General Director of Profotech, JSC, stated: “Our participation in the construction of the 500 kW Tobol substation is both crucial and symbolic for us, thus aiding digitization of the power generation industry. Profotech, JSC (RUSNANO’s Portfolio Company) has been engaged in developing and manufacturing optoelectronic current and voltage transformers since 2010. Profotech is currently the only Russian manufacturer that has its own technology and a complete production cycle for this product.
