German Universities Will Help Training Personnel for Wind Energy in the Ulyanovsk Region
The Head of the Region, Sergey Morozov, counts on the creation of joint departments in the region related to training in the field of wind energy and the development of new technologies.
The Ulyanovsk authorities intend to engage German universities to train personnel in the field of wind energy. This was announced on Thursday by the Governor of the region Sergey Morozov at the session “Green energy: the dispute between traditional and alternative fuels”, which was included in the program of the “Strong Ideas for a New Era” forum, organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation.
The panelists discussed the opportunities for renewable energy development in the country, as well as the emerging challenges in this area.
“For me, it’s extremely important now that we start training (in wind energy). Not only have we signed an agreement with our Russian partners and created several departments, but we are also in talks with the Technical University of Hamburg and with other universities in Germany, which have made very serious progress in these areas,” he said.
In May 2017, the Department of Wind Energy was established at the Ulyanovsk State Technical University. The first group of students is studying in the fourth year on a budgetary basis, and the period of study at the department is four years. In addition to the basic university disciplines, they also study such subjects as “Wind Generators”, “Basic Elements of Wind Power Plants”, and others. Specialists from Denmark came to the university with open lectures in this area. The Ulnanotech Ulyanovsk Nanocenter has opened the university’s basic department of Wind Energy Technologies, where experts give lectures and conduct practical classes for students, which also involve visits to wind farms and familiarization with their work.
Morozov added that he counted on the creation of joint departments in the region related to training in the field of wind energy and the development of new technologies. A renewable energy cluster is already being created in the Ulyanovsk Region. A center will also appear in the region for the production of new materials that are used, among other things, in the manufacture of wind turbines.
The “Strong Ideas for New Times” forum, organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation, is taking place on November 11-13 in Moscow. During the preparation, about 15 thousand ideas for the development of the economy, social and technological spheres of Russia have been collected. The authors of 100 ideas will tell representatives of federal authorities and development institutes about them at the forum. TASS is a strategic information partner of the event and provides for the operation of the forum’s official media bank.
