PET-Technology Portfolio Company Opened Its First Nuclear Medicine Centre in Rostov-on-Don

On June 22, Rostov-on-Don saw the opening of the 11th centre of the national nuclear medicine network PET-Technology created with the participation of RUSNANO. Now the inhabitants of the Rostov Region and the neighbouring regions have one of the crucial oncology diagnostic methods available, namely the PET/CT scan. PET-Technology’s investment in the Centre exceeded RUB 200 mln, the company’s total investment in the national nuclear medicine network reached RUB 4.6 bln.

The PET Centre opening ceremony saw the participation of the Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO MC LLC Anatoly Chubais, the Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev, the MedInvestGroup Managing Partner Sergey Notov and the PET-Technology CEO Diana Kobesova.

Doctors diagnose an average of 14,000 cancer cases in the Rostov Region annually, at least 4,500 of them need a PET/CT scan. The recently opened diagnostic centre will be able to perform 5,000 PET/CT scans annually and meet the region’s need for this cutting-edge diagnostic method. The Centre is equipped with a General Electric PET/CT scanner, whose capacity enables to scan up to 30 patients daily.

The diagnostic centre of PET-Technology is located in the territory of the Zdorovie (“Health”) Clinical and Diagnostic Centre. The inhabitants of the Rostov Region and the neighbouring regions will be able to have a scan in just 2–3 days after the oncologist orders it. The diagnosis of every patient is performed with radiopharmaceuticals manufactured by PET-Technology at its own factory in Yelets that has a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Certificate. Radiopharmaceuticals will be delivered to Rostov-on-Don on a daily basis by special land and air transport.

Since the PET-Technology network was established, over 72,000 people have undergone oncology diagnosis in our centres. Due to the efficient visualisation of the focus of a disease, the PET/CT scan has become the gold standard of oncological diseases treatment.”

As a result, the local doctors will be more successful in combatting this lethal disease and saving more human lives.”

PET-Technology LLC, RUSNANO’s Portfolio Company, was founded in 2011 in order to implement the project “Establishment of a network of regional PET/CT Centers for diagnostic procedures”—Nuclear Medicine Centers.

Currently, there are 10 diagnostic centres in operation in Moscow, Kursk, Belgorod, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Lipetsk, Orel, Tambov, Togliatti and Samara, as well as 2 PET-Technology production centres in Ufa and Yelets, which are equipped with a cyclotron complex, a laboratory for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals, equipment for dosing and packaging of RPH, as well as quality control equipment. These facilities allow PET-centres to use their own radiopharmaceuticals (RPH), which are promptly delivered to the centres’ patients.

The company’s overall goal is to increase the availability of highly effective methods of diagnosis and treatment of cancer in Russia. In accordance with the territorial strategy for the development of nuclear medicine centres, PET-Technology plans to open 10 new diagnostic centres by 2020, and 25 by 2025.
