NСC Products Used in the Production of New Moskva 2020 Subway Trains

07 October 2020

Products manufactured by the Nanotechnology Composite Center (NCC) (investment network of the RUSNANO’s Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs) are widely used in the trains of the newest Moskva 2020 series that were launched at the Ring Line of the Moscow Metro. In total, an eight-car train uses more than 900 parts made by NCC.

The company manufactures and supplies interior and exterior parts for the cars of the 81-775/776/777 series. Products are made of certified flame-retardant composite material. As part of the interior part, NCC supplies over-door and over-window casings, side panels, cabinets, door pillars, finishing of inter-car passages, cab lining, and a panel for the driver’s console. For the exterior, the front parts (nozes) of the head cars of the train and the side outer covers located along the entire train are produced.

In the coming years, the Moscow Metro will purchase over 170 new-generation Moskva 2020 trains, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has said at the rolling stock presentation. On the Ring Line, the rolling stock will be completely renewed in 2021, and it will enter the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line in 2023.

The fulfillment of such a large-scale order became possible due to the significant expansion and modernization of the NCC facilities, the creation of new jobs, and the use of automated production technologies.

The main differences of the Moskva 2020 train from the previous series are a radically redesigned, modern appearance, more convenient wide passages inside the cars and high-tech stuffing: an increased number of new information displays, touch screens for planning routes, the latest security systems, interior LED lighting above the windows and under the seats, painted in the color of the line along which the train follows.

For NCC, this is not the first experience in the manufacture of products for urban transport. From 2014 to 2017, the company had supplied full composite fiberglass bodies for buses operating in Hungary. For this development, the NCC received the prize of the JEC Innovation Awards 2016 (Paris, France), the prestigious international award for innovations in urban transport.
