Liotech Partners with Rosseti
The company Rosseti Moscow Region positions itself as an integrator of uninterruptible power source solutions, having gathered its partners together under a single umbrella project dubbed “The Digital Quality of Power Supply”: these are companies engaged in producing and introducing energy storage devices consumers across various levels. Liotech is one of the Project partners that will supply Rosseti’s customers with uninterruptible power sources.
Customers of Rosseti Moscow Region will now be able to use the ‘UPS and Storage Battery selection and order service’ for installation in their homes, offices, and organizations. The selection is made using the precisely defined parameters of the accommodating premises, any additional power capacity that is required, and price preferences.
Lithium-ion storage batteries are used with increasing frequency as uninterruptible power sources, both for private and industrial consumers. This provides a good opportunity to reduce power consumption during peak demand periods, to store and use energy from alternative sources, and improve the reliability of electricity supply.
In the entire global uninterruptible power supply sector, there is a push to switch from lead-acid batteries to lithium-ion ones, which have a number of advantages over their outdated equivalents that include a longer operational lifetime, smaller weight and size for the batteries, lower maintenance costs, and expansive potential to monitor how they are used. Lithium-ion batteries are also less sensitive to temperature fluctuations than their lead-acid counterparts.
The effective capacity of the former is 2 to 3 times greater than that of the latter, and their specific energy storage capacity is from 2 to 5 times higher. This allows for a more efficient use of space, which is extremely important when putting together systems designed to have high energy capacities.
Recently completed projects for Liotech include the delivery of uninterruptible power supply systems to Principal Plaza (with a combined capacity of 240 kilowatt-hours) and to Polymetal International plc. (with a 120 kilowatt-hour-capacity). In addition, at the end of 2019, Liotech won a bid to supply PJSC Sberbank with UPS systems that use lithium-ion battery technologies. Previously, Liotech had installed an uninterruptible power supply system at the Belorusskiy Railway Terminal in Moscow.
Rosseti Moscow Region has conducted two webinars on using uninterruptible power sources at the electrical equipment departments at major organizations, government agencies, and for people’s household needs. Partners in the “Digital Quality of Power Supply” Project took part in the webinars. Among the participants were representatives from Liteco LLC, Systemotechnica LLC, and Watts Battery LLC.
RUSNANO established Liotech as part of the investment project “Developing lithium-ion battery production facilities in Russia”. Manufacturing of lithium-ion accumulators, using nanostructured lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), started at Liotech in the Novosibirsk region in 2011. The plant’s production capacity is 40 million Ampere hours per year.
