Optic Fibre Systems Delivered the First Batch of Innovative Optical Fibre for the TEA NEXT Project
The first batch of the new standard optical fibre has already been delivered to Incab LLC, one of the leading fibre optic cable manufacturing plants, where the cable for the first pilot section of the TEA NEXT project will be manufactured.
A newly improved G.654 single-mode Low Loss optic fibre with a pure quartz core can be used to build high-performance optical telecom networks. Such as terrestrial long-haul communication systems and long-haul sub water cables with optical amplifiers.
Besides that, low latency and increased modal bandwidth allow you to design backbone networks with an optimal number of signal amplification points and regeneration, which reduces equipment costs in FOL construction.
Optic Fibre Systems JSC mastered G.654 optical fibre production in less than six months together with Sumitomo Electric Japanese company, a strategic partner of the plant.
Before being put into mass fabrication, the quality of G.654 optic fibre produced by Optic Fibre Systems was confirmed by joint tests with Rostelecom PJSC and the largest Russian cable plants Incab LLC, Saranskkabel-Optika LLC, Opten-Kabel LLC, Altai-Kabel LLC and Moskabel-Fujikura JSC.
Rostelecom first announced the launching of TEA NEXT in June 2020. TEA NEXT is a large-scale communications project for FOL construction with the country’s route—from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin. The new FOL’s designed capacity will be 96 dark fibres, which will be used both by International Telecom Operators and global OTT media services as a transit resource for communication in Asia and Europe and by national operators in Russia.
During the new optical fibre communication line construction, ultra-low attenuation optic fibres will be used, produced by Russian Optical Fibre Systems JSC.
Optic Fiber Systems JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G657A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks “ringmarking”. Three new types of optical fibers of standards G651, G657A2 and G655 are being prepared for production. The products are certified in Russian Federation and the quality is confirmed by Rostelecom PJSC, Russia’s leading cable companies and foreign consumers.
According to the certification results, OFS optical fiber was approved for use in the networks of the largest Russian telecommunications operators: Rostelecom, MTS, Megafon and others.
The production capacity of the enterprise is 4 mln km per year.
