FIEP Has Supported the Development of Russia’s First Artificial Intelligence Standard for Situational Video Analytics
The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) has approved the first national standard in artificial intelligence for situational video analytics. With the support of the RUSNANO’s Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (FIEP) (part of the VEB.RF Group), the document was developed by Videointellect LLC, one of the leading Russian developers of multifunctional intelligent computer vision systems.
The standardization of basic terminology in the fast-growing artificial intelligence industry for computer vision systems will remove communication barriers to effective digitalization and create a common terminology field, ensuring that the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national program is implemented.
GOST R 59385-2021. Information technology. Artificial intelligence. Situational video analytics. Terms and definitions is the first in a series of standards in the field of situational video analytics.
“The approved standard becomes a basic terminological document for situational video analytics systems, will promote the development of scientific and technical cooperation, improve the quality of regulatory documents in the field of innovative computer vision technologies, will ensure the improvement of domestic intelligent video systems with elements of artificial intelligence, and expand the market for their application to new areas,” says Yury Tkachuk, Director of the Standardization Department of the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs.
“The development of cognitive capabilities in video analytics and computer vision takes standard video monitoring procedures to a new level, enabling intelligent control of public safety in crowded places, detection and prevention of vandalism and threats at various levels, and high-precision monitoring in industrial plants for worker safety and production process control. The formation of unified ‘rules of the game’ will allow manufacturers to offer the most effective solutions, and customers of intelligent systems, in turn, to be confident in choosing the best video analytics products for their tasks”, says Pavel Sazhin, CEO of Video Intellect, the Leading Developer of the Standard.
The Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs was established in 2010 in accordance with Federal Law No. 211-FZ “On reorganization of the Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies.” The Fund aims to develop the innovative infrastructure in the sphere of nanotechnology and implement the educational and infrastructure programs already started by RUSNANO.
The supreme collegial management body of the Fund is the Supervisory Board. Under the Fund’s Charter, the competence of the Supervisory Council, in particular, includes the issues of determining the priority directions of the Fund’s activity, as well as its strategy and budget. The Chairman of the Fund’s Executive Board, the collegial management body, is the Chairman of the Board of Management Company RUSNANO LLC Sergey Kulikov.
