RUSNANO and the Almazov National Medical Research Center (NMRC) have signed a cooperation agreement on the implementation of high-tech developments in healthcare. The document has been signed by Sergey Kulikov, Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO Management Company, and Evgeny Shlyakhto, General Director of the Almazov National Medical Research Center. The ceremony took place on day zero of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum during a strategy session at the Almazov Center attended by world-class experts. The strategy session was organized with the support of SAMSONOWA & Partners, an international consultancy firm.
The parties have identified the following areas for joint work: modular solutions for the smart clinic, gene therapy, innovative pharmaceuticals, biomedical cellular products, Home to Hospital, and Hospital to Home technologies.
“Our agreement aims at using the high research potential of domestic science to improve the quality of medical services provided. The latest high-tech developments should be made available to the widest possible range of our citizens. RUSNANO needs to cooperate with the center, as it not only does a lot of scientific work but has accumulated a wealth of experience in treating patients. I am confident that the Center will become one of our anchor customers in the biomedical area,” said Sergey Kulikov, Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO Management Company.
“The Almazov National Research Center is the only medical research center in the country that conducts its training of students in the specialist field. Other levels of education, including postgraduate training, are attended by up to 3,000 health professionals a year. The Solnechnoye Research and Education Biomedical Center for Gifted Children and Youth is being set up based on the Center. The Center has enormous scientific and educational potential to create a pool of the most in-demand specialists in the latest industries. Based on the results of the grant competition for the creation and development of the second stage of world-class scientific centers that research the priorities of scientific and technological development, the FSBI Almazov National Research Center of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation received the status of a world-class scientific center,” said Evgeny Shlyakhto, General Director of the Almazov Center, RAS Academician.
The Almazov National Medical Research Center (NMRC) is one of the few medical research centers with a license to conduct educational activities. This opens up opportunities for effective interaction with the RUSNANO’s Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs, with whose support more than 200 training courses have already been developed for retraining and professional development of specialists in high-tech enterprises, including those in the medical field.
The RUSNANO Group includes the RUSNANO Joint Stock Company, the RUSNANO Management Company and the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs. Thanks to RUSNANO’s investments, there are currently 138 factories and R&D Centers opened in 37 regions in Russia.
